Tourism in Tartu

We have been developing tourism in Tartu since 1999

The Tartu County Tourism Foundation (SA Tartumaa Turism) was established in 1999 by the City of Tartu and the Tartu County Association of Local Authorities. Its purpose is to coordinate tourism development activities in the city of Tartu and the surrounding county. This includes regional marketing, tourism product development, regional branding, as well as the collection, analysis, and dissemination of tourism-related information. The foundation also employs tourism information specialists who work at the Tartu Information Centre located in the Town Hall

In 2021, the South Estonia Tourism Cluster was launched under the foundation, born out of the collaboration between tourism businesses, local governments, and networks. In 2023, it was decided to bring together the tourism staff of the county development centers of South Estonia under a single management structure. This resulted in broader tourism cooperation across South Estonia, involving the city and county of Tartu, Põlva and Võru counties, and the municipalities of Jõgeva, Mustvee, Otepää, and Valga. In addition to local governments, county development centers, and cluster members (tourism businesses), the activities are funded by the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency.

Local cooperation partners

In Tartu and Tartu County, there are several organizations involved in the tourism sector with whom we closely collaborate. Of course, the local tourism businesses are key cooperation partners.
