Last week, the 17th international street art festival Stencibility took place, during which more than thirty new artworks were created in Tartu’s urban space. A total of twenty-five street artists took part in the festival, mainly from the Baltic states, but also from elsewhere in the world.
New works were created on Vabadussild, Kroonuaia Bridge and Turusild, as well as in the Karlova, Supilinn, Vaksali and Ülejõe districts. The locations of all artworks created during the festival can be found on the Stencibility street art map.
The festival, which took place from 11 to 14 June, featured street artists FACIO (AR/PT), Yubia (ES), Thobek (LV), A. Bran (LT), Danny Rumbl (NL), El Rughi (IT), Human Robo 96 (DE), Staselė Jakunskaitė (LT), Tron Karton (LV), Sigrit Villido (EE), Seljo (EE), Maari Soekov (EE), Sänk (EE) and Kairo (EE). Pala (EE) and Simona Lass (EE) created their first street art pieces. Guest artists Rombo Kaos (LV), Ziepe (LV), Stina Leek (EE), Zahars Ze (LV), Gutface (EE), TAZ (MY), Trexus (LT), Alepsis Hernandez (US) and Napoleon 75 (US) also contributed.
In addition to the creation of new artworks, the festival programme included workshops, tours and other public events.
Stencibility is a festival dedicated to free and independent street art and has been taking place in Tartu since 2010. The festival values different forms of street art, including stickers, stencils, paste-ups, installations and murals. The main supporters of the festival are the City of Tartu and the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
