The City of Tartu is announcing a competition to identify the tourism achievement of the past year. Nominations can be submitted until the end of August.

“The success of the tourism sector is very important for Tartu, which is why we have recognized innovative and exciting initiatives that help strengthen our tourism sector and promote the region as an even more attractive destination. I encourage everyone to notice these amazing efforts and submit them for our competition,” said Deputy Mayor Raimond Tamm.

The competition is open to active entrepreneurs whose location and/or one of their main places of business is in the City of Tartu.

The tourism achievement will be identified by the Tartu County Tourism Foundation. It is required that the candidate operates in the City of Tartu, but significant regional achievements will also be taken into account. Companies may also nominate themselves for the tourism achievement award. The most outstanding tourism achievement will be determined by the Tartu County Tourism Council.

To qualify, the activities and/or innovations must have been made in 2023 and meet at least three of the following criteria:

  1. Significant economic impact on the tourism sector;
  2. Filling a poorly covered segment/field in the market;
  3. Effective collaboration with businesses and development organizations;
  4. Outstanding and well-thought-out product and service design;
  5. Impactful marketing campaigns in domestic and/or foreign markets;
  6. Goals for reducing environmental impacts and a plan for achieving them.

Nominations for the tourism achievement can be submitted until August 29 by filling out the corresponding form (in Estonian).

The tourism achievement of the year will be announced at the Tartu Best Entrepreneur Gala held in the autumn. The City of Tartu has organized the competition for the most successful entrepreneurs since 1998. The tourism achievement category was added to the entrepreneurship awards in 2016, and this year it will be awarded for the eighth time.
