The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the global umbrella organization for the conference industry, has published its 2024 ranking of the world’s top conference countries and cities. The list shows that both Tallinn and Tartu are among the world’s 100 best conference cities.
As a country, Estonia achieved an excellent 44th place. In the city rankings, Tallinn is 57th, while Tartu made an impressive leap last year, sharing 94th place with Osaka and Brisbane, even surpassing New York. The previous year, Tartu was ranked 127th.
“Tartu’s entry into the top 100 conference cities worldwide is a major recognition of our dedicated work. It reflects the excellence of our organizers, strong collaboration, and of course, the collective success of our European Capital of Culture year,” said Merje Laimets, Business and Conference Tourism Specialist at Visit Tartu.
The conference city rankings consider association meetings that rotate between at least three destinations, have at least 50 participants, and of whom at least 40% are international attendees. The top positions are held by Vienna, Lisbon, Singapore, and Barcelona.
