On Friday, January 9 at 5 PM, sculptor Karin Kivisild will open her solo exhibition “Corpusculum Vitae” in the project room of Gallery Pallas. The exhibition centers on meditation as an artistic practice and the awareness of inner wholeness.

The works by the young artist were created through experimental meditative processes, in which microcosmic patterns have become reflections of the author’s inner world. Meditation has not functioned merely as a source of inspiration, but as a journey in which mental self-analysis and physical work take place simultaneously. The inner process has been channeled through the hands into relief-based forms and into one work cast in metal.

“Corpusculum Vitae” focuses on bringing together ego, light, and shadow. Rather than treating shadow as the opposite of light, the exhibition presents it as a natural and necessary part of human existence. Suppressed, neglected, or shadowed layers are integrated as a coherent part of the individual and understood as a source of strength rather than an obstacle.

“Wholeness does not arise from the victory of light over shadow, but when all aspects of ourselves are allowed to be seen and accepted,” the artist states.

The title “Corpusculum Vitae” refers to the smallest components of life – microscopic structures through which the whole reveals itself. The exhibition invites the viewer to become a fellow traveler, to find recognition and inner resonance in the works, while also leaving space for a purely visual experience: the perception of textures, patterns, and compositions.

Karin Kivisild graduated from the department of sculpture of the Pallas University of Applied Sciences in 2020. “Corpusculum Vitae” at gallery Pallas is her first solo exhibition.
