As part of the Tourism4SDG project, the Regional State of Art for Tartu County has been completed. This comprehensive report outlines the current state of tourism in the region, identifies key development directions, and highlights challenges and opportunities related to sustainability.

The report is a valuable tool for local municipalities, tourism businesses, and community actors who want to contribute to shaping Tartu and Tartu County into an attractive and responsible tourism destination.

It showcases the county’s strengths – such as high-quality cultural life, rich natural landscapes, and forward-looking green initiatives – while also addressing challenges like uneven service quality, limited accessibility, and the need for stronger inter-municipal cooperation.

The document will be updated continuously until the project concludes in 2027. Its final version will serve as an important input for refining tourism-related goals and actions in the Tartu County Development Strategy 2040.
