Street Art Gallery under the Freedom Bridge
Tartu’s Freedom Bridge doesn’t just connect the banks of the Emajõgi River – beneath it has emerged a distinctive street art gallery that lives and evolves constantly. The concrete walls have become a layered and ever-changing canvas, shaped by the work of various street artists from Tartu and across Estonia. The gallery is never truly finished – new works are added over time, while older layers fade, merge, or are painted over.
Tartu is also home to the annual international street art festival Stencibility, which brings together local and international street art talents and offers the public a unique chance to experience the vibrant atmosphere of street art culture. During the festival, exciting collaborative artworks are created, pop-up exhibitions take place, guided art tours are held, photography contests are organized, and workshops introduce a variety of artistic techniques.
