On Friday, April 24 at 5PM, a group exhibition “Concrete Stories” will be opened at gallery Pallas. Behind the exhibition is ME-21, alumni of department of media design at Pallas University of Applied Sciences, who, after completing their studies, continue their collaboration under their former course name.

Even though there are thousands of means of communication in the digital age, people still yearn for an archaic sense of familiarity. It can be found in other people or in urban legends or fairy tales. The authors invite the viewer to ponder over urban legends and myths, and how people find inspiration in them and position themselves within mythology in a modern context.

“Despite us having become urbanized as a society, partially isolated from each other as people, we are still connected by our herd mentality, the want to exist in a group. People love to daydream, tell stories, and then retell said stories, changing the little details over time,” discuss the members of ME-21.

The exhibition titled “Concrete Stories” is a collection of digital and traditional forms of paintings, illustrations and installations. The concept of the exhibition is built on the human instinct to notice the familiar and find peace in it. The works speak of the urbanized loneliness, the beauty and pain of living in the city, and mythological fantasies, where everything we once knew has been rewritten.

Exhibition features work from the members of ME-21: Anastasia Andrejeva, Kaisa Benga, Aljona Jeršova, Marija Lopatkina, Anastasia Musakko, Heldin Riga, Riste Riiel, Kirke Ritsik, Jaanika Tork and Ott Villem Vackermann.
