The installation of 24 new bike racks will begin in Tartu’s Old Town to improve cycling opportunities in the city center and make bicycle storage safer.
Bike racks have found very active use, and all parking spaces in the Old Town are often occupied. Adding new racks will help alleviate the lack of spaces and encourage more and more people to come to the city center by bicycle. Good parking infrastructure supports the growth of bicycle use and contributes to the development of a livelier and healthier urban environment.
14 new bike racks will be installed in front of the Tartu City Government Building (Küüni 1 and Küüni 3/5), three more places will be added to the corner of Rüütli and Town Hall square (Raekoja plats 8), two places will be added in front of the Sofiko restaurant (former Tsink Plekk Pang) at Küütri 6, and five places will be added to St Peter’s Lutheran School of Tartu (Küütri 1). In addition, damaged bike racks will be repaired on Rüütli, Küüni, Munga and Poe streets.
