On 28–29 May 2026, University of Tartu will host the Nordic Association of Japanese Studies Annual Conference 2026 (NAJS), marking the 20th edition of this international academic event.
The anniversary conference will bring together scholars and doctoral researchers from around the world. The venue for the conference is the Delta Centre.
The conference focuses broadly on modern and contemporary Japanese society and culture. Contributions are invited across a wide range of fields, including economy and business, politics and international relations, sociology and anthropology, history, popular culture, literature, religion, and art. Researchers at all career stages and from all regions are welcome to participate.
The two-day programme will run from morning to late afternoon on both days and will be complemented by social events that support networking and knowledge exchange. The conference is open to all interested participants and reflects the growing international network of NAJS.
