An English language virtual tour of the City of Tartu has been completed and can be found on the Visit Tartu website. The virtual tour is intended for use with both mobile devices and computers. In addition, the virtual tour can be viewed with VR glasses.
The virtual tour of Tartu is comprised of 25 high-quality panoramic views, including 4 drone aerial views. The views highlight the most important tourist attractions and sights, as well as additional information for each object.
‘The virtual tour gives people who have not yet visited Tartu, and are looking for more information before they make a decision, the opportunity to learn more about the city. It is also an excellent tool for event organizers and, for example, helping to introduce the city at fairs’ said Helen Kalberg, Marketing Manager for the City of Tartu.
The virtual tour starts with an opening panorama, and contains a menu with destinations and a map application. All location points are marked on the opening view and interconnected as part of the tour, with the visitor being able to move from one location to another. There are also audio sounds in the selected locations, for example, you can listen to the Carillon of Tartu Town Hall Square, and the sounds of nature at the Lodjakoda barge complex. Each panoramic view has its own unique address, which makes navigating in your browser easy and allows you to share each location as a direct link. The tour can also be viewed in automatic mode.
The virtual tour was created in cooperation with OÜ Procontent, which is a member of IVRPA (the International VR Photography Association) and has previously completed several world-class awarded-winning virtual tours (e.g. TalTech, A. Aalto University).
