On March 16th at 12 noon, the exhibition of legendary Estonian Television puppets “The Greatest Friends on the TV Screen” will open at the Theatre Home of the Tartu Toy Museum. On a nostalgic journey back to childhood, you can meet Tipp and Täpp, Äpu and the Postikana, Hunt Kriimsilm and many other stars of their time.
According to one of the curators of the exhibition, Marge Pärnits, the puppets come from the collections of the Estonian National Broadcasting Museum, and in some cases it is worth noting that they are real TV stars. “The puppets and music of TV productions have been an important part of childhood for many generations,” confirms Pärnits. “Who can relate to Tipp and Täpp’s candy-eating song, who can say when thinking about the adventures of Tammetõru that they will not take a single step back, who can literally recite all the songs of the new Buratino. Now grandparents and grandchildren have an equal opportunity to meet their idols face to face.”
The exhibition, which will open with a big family day “Teleboy’s Birthday”, will feature both old rarities and the newest TV dolls that have shone in front of the camera over the past seven decades. On Family Day, every handyman can make something fun for themselves – the Postikana post office, the Teleboy’s hampelmann workshop and the Kädila Kingdom crown jewels workshop will be open. In addition, there will be an opportunity to watch the presentation of the new books “Let’s sing along. Songs for the Children’s Screen” by Petrone Print Publishing House and, of course, to tell each other childhood memories while admiring the exhibition.
The exhibition is a gift from the Tartu Toy Museum for the 70th anniversary of Estonian Television and was created in collaboration with the Estonian Public Broadcasting Museum.
The Tartu Toy Museum and Theatre Home are located in the heart of Tartu on Lutsu Street.
