Street art tour in Karlova

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating

Tartu is known for its street art. The cosy and bohemian Karlova district is also full of great street art and you can find something exciting on almost every corner there. The district’s story begins with houses being built on the lands of Karlova Manor in the late 19th and early 20th century, which were mostly owned by Estonians. Numerous wooden houses were built there, along with backyards, which is why the district was formerly called Pilpaküla (Chip village). Thus, in addition to street art, the district is also unique thanks to wooden architecture, some of which has been given a new look, while others are still waiting for a new life.
