Uhti Avatud Ateljee

Uhti Public Studio is situated at the 10 km mark along the Tartu-Võru road in an historical tavern that is an archiectural monument dating from the 19th century. It was here that the old Post Road split into two, with one fork heading in the direction of Otepää and Kanepi and the other to Põlva and Võru - making it the gateway to southern Estonia. Today the renovated tavern building is home to a public studio of artists and craftsmen. Travellers will meet artists in the smithy, stables and tavern itself. You can try your own hand as a blacksmith, potter or knitter, fashion yourself a leather souvenir and enjoy the old food customs, including making bread in the tavern. Everything that is made on site can also be bought and taken with you.
