On August 7th, Kadri Voorand 4, Estonian Voices and the VHK string orchestra with conductor Rasmus Puur will give a concert of songs of the heart on Tartu 2024 Car-Free Avenue. The concert comes to the capital of culture in cooperation with the Birgitta Festival and is free for the audience.

“We are very happy and honored that the renowned Birgitta festival concert is part of the capital of culture program,” said Tartu 2024 CEO Kuldar Leis. “For the audience of Tartu, this is a unique opportunity to enjoy such a group of top Estonian musicians on stage on Car-Free Avenue.”

Vocalist and composer Kadri Voorand is active in both Kadri Voorand 4 and Estonian Voices, and they have never performed together before. At the mystical heart songs concert, Rasmus Puur, Tõnu Kõrvits and Ülo Krigul’s arrangements of the best tracks from the Estonian Voices album “Kalleimale / To the Dearest” and Kadri Voorand’s new album “Ma olen siin / I am here” will be heard. The performances are accompanied by the VHK string orchestra.

“One of my dream ensembles will take the stage, which has come together especially for the Birgitta festival, and I am glad that this concert will also come to Tartu. For this purpose, we have chosen a whole range of melodies and lyrics that together tell one great story of love – Tartu is the city of love, Kadri Voorand said. “I hope to immerse the listeners’ thoughts completely in these songs, so that no one remembers tomorrow’s shopping list or barbecue party.”

The concert will take place on August 7 at 7 p.m. in Tartu, on Car-Free Avenue, and will last approximately 2 hours. The concert is free.

Car-Free Avenue is open until August 12. The five-week cultural program is completed by the Tartu Food and Wine Festival (August 9-10), the joint after-party of the Tartuff and Tartu Food and Wine Festival (August 10) and the International Youth Day (August 12).

Birgitta Festival is a musical theater festival that has been taking place in the ruins of the Pirita Monastery in Tallinn since August 2005. Operas, ballets, staged oratorios, modern dance performances, musicals and other musical theater genres have been performed at the festival.
